The new first search
A growing share of patients open an AI assistant before they open Google. They ask a full question — "who is a good pediatric dentist in Weston who takes Cigna?" — and get two or three names. There is no page two.
Why some practices get named and others do not
Models favor sources they can parse and corroborate. That means explicit facts (address, credentials, insurance, hours, treatments), consistent data across the web, and content structured as answers rather than marketing.
Five things to do this quarter
- Make your name, address, phone and specialty identical everywhere they appear.
- Add Organization, LocalBusiness, Service and FAQPage schema to your site.
- Rewrite key pages so each section answers one specific patient question.
- Publish an llms.txt file that indexes your services, locations and contact facts.
- Allow reputable AI crawlers in robots.txt — blocking them guarantees invisibility.
How to measure it
Run a fixed panel of ten patient questions monthly across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity and record whether your practice appears and how it is described. Inaccurate descriptions are usually a data-consistency problem, not a content problem.
